It’s the evolution of the UV-C ceiling light installed for the first time by A.D.P. in 428 classrooms in Milan. In October 1956 the “Corriere Milanese”, just for the positive outcomes of this physical and non-chemical air disinfection system in the presence of people, titled the newspaper article: “Here the germicidal lamp that will save children from the flu.” The so-called UV-C Aersteril disinfection system was validated by the Health and Hygiene Office of Milan and published in the “Italian journal of medicine and school hygiene” volume II n.3 1956, extract of the work by Dr. Franco Castoldi, Medical Inspector of the Health and Hygiene Office of Milan.
The new UV-C VIOLET is realized in stainless steel Aisi 304, a material chosen by us because it is suitable for a device intended for health prevention/prophylaxis, designed to meet the standards of easy hygiene and durability. The best components and adjustments are also used to ensure that all the air in the environment is, thanks to the convective motion, systematically treated by ultraviolet rays. It is a disinfection for environments without the presence of people (direct irradiance). In the food and beverage sector, with the increased environmental contamination, critical point control systems (H.A.C.C.P) have been adopted to reduce the contamination risks to acceptable levels. To achieve this during preparation, processing, and storage premises, UV-C radiations have become necessary. There is nothing better than the physical and not chemical technology of UV-C, combined with good hygiene practice, to prevent cross-contamination between products, devices, materials, water, air exchange and staff interventions. UV-C VIOLET used in cold rooms allows to increase the temperature, improving meat maturation, thus decreasing dehydration and weight loss. Finally, there is a lower loss during refinement due to mucilages (oiliness) and molds. It improves freshness, taste and meat appearance with the possibility to extend storage times.

Thanks to the UV-C technology developed by A.D.P. Idrosteril®, ultraviolet short-wave rays are exploited to obtain a microbial-free atmosphere in the environment. The effectiveness of this method is ensured by natural air convective motion, which ensures the “spread” of the bactericidal effect throughout the environment. With UV-C Violet Fan positioned at a floor height of about 2.5 meters, a significant reduction of microorganisms is obtained in the upper layer of air, arriving to an elimination value close to 98% even in the lower layer, only after around 5 minutes after ignition. This installation is equivalent to about 60 complete air exchanges per hour. A very high figure when compared to 5, maximum 10 air exchanges which can be achieved at best in a room. UV-C technology is a science. It is known that ultraviolet rays with a wavelength of 2537 Ångström in the right dose affect the core of all living microorganisms in water and air (bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae, spores). They act on the cell nucleus which, when properly irradiated, undergoes a photolithic action that stops the division and multiplication process. This system is totally natural and does not require chemical disinfectants. Scientific studies have shown that, to break down the viral-bacterial load, it is necessary to intervene several times a day in an environment or on individual objects. With a constant use of UV-C Violet Fan, this can be overcome thanks to the germicidal power of short-wave ultraviolet rays.

UV-C BLITZ / UV-C LONG

Compared to the first applications realized by A.D.P. in the 1950s (disinfection of Campari Soda and Giommi caps), the new model UV-C BLITZ is very small in size so that it can be installed directly on the descent channel. The germicidal lamp used is made in pure quartz - a unique material perfectly permeable to UV-C rays - and it is U-shaped to have in small places twice the germicidal emission. The UV-C lamp is usually low pressure to avoid overheating and the possible unwanted material migration. A pneumatism allows you to always leave the germicidal lamp on even in case of machine downtime, ensuring the safety and protection of the production personnel. The electronic ballast is designed to achieve the optimal pressure value corresponding to a 254 nm resonance line, the maximum germicidal action. UV-C BLITZ is easy to install and allows unreachable results by normal and standardized disinfection applications. A device with an effective disinfection system, eco-friendly, fast, reliable and economical. The UV-C LONG model is utilized where there are less space problems and it is equipped with a UV-C 590 mm long lamp. Very useful in disinfecting food film’s inside. Sensitivity of each microorganism species to UV-C is different. With appropriate laboratory equipment, the actual UV-C dose, necessary to inactivate various microorganism species, has been measured and established. The UV-C dose is expressed in mJ/cm2 as an energy amount to be transmitted to a square centimeter of sample. It is important to pay attention during the design of a bacteriological disinfection plan to the charted values, because they are the results of laboratory tests in which all microorganisms receive the same UV-C dose since the samples are perfectly homogeneous. But this does not happen in reality where there is no guarantee of uniformity of the material that is irradiated by ultraviolet rays.

Products disinfection and protection requires much more intense irradiation than what is considered sufficient for air disinfection. A.D.P. Idrosteril® makes COVERS FOR CONVEYOR BELTS, model UV-C TUNNEL, following bottles and containers from cleaning or production to filling and closing, thus ensuring the permanence in an atmosphere under maximum bacterial control during these procedures. The standard UV-C TUNNEL cover is made of stainless steel AISI 304, has a trapezoidal shape so that the sides can be flipped without the operator having their hands occupied by keeping the plate raised. A GOOD ALLY FOR GOOD AIR QUALITY
With the appearance of COVID-19, we realized how important air quality is. By implementing a valid prophylaxis program, air quality should no longer be a problem for public health with significant social and economic implications. For this reason, it is necessary to take action to contain bacterial contamination in all confined environments of non-industrial life and work such as schools, kindergartens, restaurants, hotels, public and private offices, cinemas, shops, supermarkets, sport facilities, trains, planes, etc. Indoor pollutants can be classified as physical, chemical and biological according to their nature. As regards the latter, some studies have shown that microbial contamination within confined environments is often due to poor hygiene conditions, overcrowding of premises, design errors of air conditioning systems or poor maintenance of the same. To improve their air quality, it is sufficient to install UV-C lamps in the UTA/AHU. In these units, mold and bacterial colonies development (Legionella) is very likely. Considering multiple critical factors, including condensation and very strong air speed, the value of the correct germicidal irradiation dosage must be done by experienced technicians. It is relatively easy to “light up” a fixed surface with an effective dose; much more complex is, instead, transfering an effective ultraviolet dose on an airborne corpuscle in a fraction of a second. If the plan is well sized, the ultraviolet radiation not only acts on the surface but also on the inside, hindering microbial growth and thus biofilm formation. The treatment with ultraviolet rays is physical and not chemical, therefore it excludes the danger of generating resistant forms over time.
